The 1600cc MkII Escort was bought in 1998 to compete in the
Irish Dunlop Hillclimb, a 14 round competition. We finished
2nd and 4th in its class driven by Kevin Creaven and Debbie
Saville.

Debbie enjoyed her first year of competition where she
mixed among the men (ooh er) and became hooked on Motorsport.

At the end of the season the car was garaged in England.
Whilst a more powerful (250 BHP) space-framed escort was
nearing completion for an assault on the following years
championship. This car was used for the first two rounds of
the championship in Ireland, but owing to the purchase of
a new house the season was cut short and this car was
rested in England also.

In 1999 Samantha Sullivan met Kevin and Debbie, working
with Kevin for an Electrical Contractors. Debbie had a
desire to resume her motorsport activities, and with
Samantha's new found interest Ladies First Motorsport
was founded.

The Original MkII Escort was resurrected, it has been
treated to a full rebuild and body overhaul including
lightening and strengthening, courtesy of our dear
friend Les Lyons (see sponsors page for Les' contact
details). Les himself is an accomplished pilot in the
Classic Thunder Saloon Series, pictured here is his
immaculate RS 1800 BDA, which he prepared himself.

The mechanical upgrade and rebuild was undertaken by
another old friend, Mr Nigel Balding.
